Frequently Asked Questions
Does this really float on water?Yes! The Treat Buoy Small is specifically designed to float on water, making it perfect for pool, beach, and lake play. The buoy shape keeps it stable on the water surface whilst dispensing treats. Always supervise water play and ensure your dog is comfortable swimming before introducing floating toys.
What size dog is this suitable for?The Small Treat Buoy is designed for small dog breeds such as Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers, Pomeranians, and similar-sized dogs. The compact size makes it easy for small dogs to see and retrieve from water whilst being appropriately sized for smaller mouths. For larger dogs, we recommend our Large Treat Buoy option.
Can I use this on land as well as water?Absolutely! The Treat Buoy works brilliantly on both land and water. Use it as a regular treat-dispensing puzzle toy indoors or in the garden, then take it to the pool or beach for aquatic fun. The versatile design makes it a year-round enrichment toy that adapts to different play environments.
How do I clean the Treat Buoy after water use? After water play, rinse the Treat Buoy thoroughly with fresh water to remove chlorine, salt, or debris. Open the treat compartment and rinse inside as well. Allow to air dry completely before storing or refilling with treats. Regular cleaning prevents mould and keeps the toy hygienic, especially after use in pools or natural water.
What size treats should I use?The Small Treat Buoy works best with small treats or kibble appropriate for small dogs. Treats should be small enough to pass through the dispensing holes but large enough to provide satisfying rewards. You can also use your dog regular dry food to turn swimming or play sessions into rewarding enrichment activities.
